Eco-friendly Piacava Bangles
Eco-friendly Piacava Bangles
Handmade and eco-friendly, these bangles are made from Piacava; a natural vegetable fibre from Brazil, and the clasp is made from recycled aluminium.
Piacava is a vegetable fibre which comes from a species of Palm tree called Attalea funifera which is native only to the state of Bahia in Brazil.

The name Piacava means "fibrous plant" and originates from the Tupi language which was spoken by the Tupi people of Brazil.

Piacava is an, impermeable, rigid yet flexible fibre which makes these bracelets extremely durable, you can wear the jewellery all the time including sleeping and bathing in them.
An amazing quality of these bangles is that the more you wear them the more beautiful they become, this is because Piacava responds to the natural oils in your skin, and water when you bathe, making the piacava shiner, more vibrant in colour, and smoother in texture.
The production of Piacava is of huge social importance in Brazil, creating work in the agricultural sector for many "nativo" families who cultivate the products and are therefore kept in work.
